Start with the actual decision, not the qualification label.

IGCSE, A Levels and the IB can open different routes, but the family still needs to test the student's subjects, evidence, course direction, timing and constraints against each institution's current official guidance.

Boundary: this is university admissions guidance, not school admissions, subject tutoring or curriculum selection. It is not an admission prediction. Requirements, deadlines, fees and visa rules change; verify every live route with the institution.

Map the qualification and the evidence separately

Record the qualification route, subjects, grades or predicted grades, language evidence, testing, portfolio work and any prerequisites. A curriculum label is a starting point, not a prediction of an individual university decision.

Compare courses before comparing university names

For each live route, read the official course page and compare teaching design, assessment, subject requirements, flexibility, total cost and the next irreversible deadline. Similar course titles can describe different academic experiences.

Keep current, expected and missing evidence visible

Use one short table for confirmed evidence, expected evidence and MISSING evidence. This prevents a shortlist from quietly depending on a future grade, test score, portfolio or scholarship that has not been secured.

Put family constraints beside the academic route

Budget, travel, distance, visa or residence questions, climate, support network and willingness to attend are part of the university decision. A theoretically attractive option is not workable if the family cannot fund or support it.

Protect student ownership

The student owns educational preference and authorship. Parents own affordability and family constraints. Any adviser should structure questions and edit transparently without inventing activities, ghostwriting or making an admission promise.

When an independent conversation may help.

School counselling may already cover the family's route. An independent conversation can help when a university application decision is unclear, whether one destination or several remain under consideration.

Families can meet Travis in Jakarta by appointment or work online worldwide. No student documents are needed for the first enquiry.
